Terms & Conditions
Welcome to the journey. By booking an experience with Event Horizon Experiences, you (the "Guest") agree to the following terms designed to ensure the safety of our explorers and the integrity of our equipment.
1. Scope of Experiences
These policies apply to all curated experiences, including:
-
Solar Experiences: Specialized solar-filtered observation of the Sun.
-
Lunar Experiences: Detailed high-magnification observation of the Moon.
-
Cosmic Safari: Deep-sky exploration of planets, nebulae, and star clusters.
2. Safety & Solar Viewing Protocol
Warning: Viewing the sun without specialized equipment causes permanent eye damage.
-
Approved Equipment Only: Guests must exclusively use the solar filters and eclipse glasses provided by our staff. Use of personal binoculars, cameras, or unapproved filters is strictly prohibited.
-
Physical Safety: Solar viewing often occurs in high-exposure areas. Guests are responsible for their own hydration, SPF protection, and physical stability around equipment.
3. Safety & Night-Sky viewing
Warning: High-powered optical equipment and low-light environments require extreme caution. Moving quickly or using improper lighting can lead to injury or equipment damage.
-
Preservation of Night Vision: It takes the human eye approximately 20–30 minutes to fully adapt to the dark. To protect this "dark adaptation" for all guests, the use of white-light flashlights, camera flashes, or bright smartphone screens is strictly prohibited. Only red-spectrum light may be used in the observation zone.
-
Low-Visibility Navigation: Guests must remain within designated viewing paths and move slowly. The terrain is uneven, and tripod legs are a significant trip hazard in the dark. Please stay clear of equipment bases unless actively viewing.
-
Optics Etiquette: Do not touch the telescope eyepieces or glass surfaces. Natural oils from skin can permanently damage optical coatings. Please follow our guides instructions to adjust the focus or positioning of the equipment.
-
Environmental Readiness: Temperatures drop significantly after dusk. Guests are responsible for bringing appropriate layers, blankets, and sturdy, closed-toe footwear to ensure physical comfort and stability during the experience.
4. Equipment & Grounds Stewardship
Our telescopes are precision-engineered instruments.
-
Hands-Off Policy: Guests must not adjust, move, or touch optical surfaces (lenses/mirrors) and telescopes. Our guides will handle all technical calibrations.
-
Financial Responsibility: Guests agree to treat all gear with extreme care. Any damage resulting from negligence, horseplay, or failure to follow guide instructions will result in the guest being held financially responsible for the full cost of repair or replacement.
-
Leave No Trace: We operate in fragile natural environments. Littering or destruction of the landscape is grounds for immediate removal without refund and possible banning from future Experiences.
5. Environment & Assumption of Risk
All experiences are conducted outdoors in natural, often dark, and uneven environments.
-
The Elements: Guests are responsible for dressing for the conditions (e.g., dropping night temperatures, wind, sunlight). We are not liable for discomfort or injury caused by weather, local flora, or fauna.
-
Supervision: Children must be under the direct supervision of an adult at all times.
-
Mobility: We recommend sturdy, closed-toe footwear. Navigating uneven terrain in low-light conditions is done at the guest's own risk.
6. Code of Conduct
We provide a family-friendly, educational atmosphere.
-
Zero Tolerance: Disrespectful behavior, vulgarity, or intoxication will not be tolerated.
-
Removal: We reserve the right to remove any individual violating this code. In such cases, no refund will be issued, and the individual may be barred from future events.
7. Intellectual Property
All Experiences—including storytelling narratives, proprietary educational materials, and curated presentations—is the sole property of Event Horizon Experiences. Recording presentations for commercial use or public distribution is strictly prohibited.
8. Cancellations & Weather Policy
Astronomy is at the mercy of the atmosphere.
-
Guest Cancellations: Rescheduling is permitted at no cost up to 24 hours prior to the event. Cancellations or "no-shows" are non-refundable.
-
Inclement Weather: If we cancel due to heavy cloud cover, rain, or high winds:
-
Local Guests: You will receive a credit to reschedule for a future date.
-
Short-Term Visitors: If you are leaving the region within 24 hours of the cancelled event, a full refund will be issued upon proof of travel itinerary.
-
9. Minimum Capacity & Rescheduling Policy
To ensure the best possible experience for all participants, our Lunar Experiences and Cosmic Safaris require a minimum of 5 guests to proceed.
How it Works:
-
The Threshold: If a scheduled experience has fewer than 5 guests booked by 4 hours prior to the start time, the session will be subject to rescheduling.
-
Notification: In the event that the minimum is not met, we will notify all booked guests via email and/or text message to inform them of the change.
-
Rescheduling: All guests from the affected experience will be automatically moved to the next available experience that meets the capacity requirement, or you may choose a future date that fits your schedule.
-
Our Commitment: We strive to give as much notice as possible to minimize any inconvenience to your plans.
10. Release & Waiver of Liability
By completing a booking, I (the Guest) hereby release Horizon Experiences, its owners, and staff from any and all liability for personal injury, vision damage, or property loss arising from participation. I acknowledge that I am participating at my own risk and am responsible for my own conduct and physical safety.
